The Crooked Lake Township (CLT) Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Committee's mission is to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species through financial support for inspectors, education, AIS surveys and the treatment of lakes. Two years ago, the Pine River Watershed, 1 Watershed, 1 Plan gained the interest of those on the committee. A decline in our area lake’s water quality had also become apparent to many of us. During the CLT AIS Committee meetings in 2020, we began to discuss various initiatives we could undertake that would expand our efforts beyond AIS to provide meaningful awareness, education and projects to include our lakes overall water quality. Our first project took place at Luscher’s Park as a demonstration of improving shoreland, native habitat and limiting water run-off into Lawrence Lake.
