Watercraft Inspectors Wanted for 2026 Season
WaterGuards is currently hiring seasonal staff for the 2026 Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Watercraft Inspection program. We are looking for individuals interested in working outdoors this spring and summer to help protect Minnesota lakes.
AIS Inspectors play a key role in inspecting watercraft for invasive species. This is a paid position, and all staff are trained and certified by the Minnesota DNR. Training begins in early April, with shifts scheduled at assigned lakes throughout the season.
Position Highlights:
- Outdoor work at lake accesses
- Flexible scheduling options
- Excellent experience for students in natural resources, environmental science, or outdoor recreation
Position Requirements:
- Reliable transportation
- Availability to work weekends, early mornings, and holidays (including Fishing Opener, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day)
- Completion of DNR training and certification
- A smartphone with internet and app capabilities
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Physical ability to inspect watercraft and trailers
2026 Staffing Locations:
We are hiring for lake accesses in Cass, Todd, Le Sueur, Waseca, Blue Earth, Meeker, Isanti, Stearns, Sherburne, Dakota, and Hennepin Counties.
